What has changed in investment migration in 2026?

St Kitts and Nevis simplified family pricing, Portugal extended its path to citizenship to 10 years for most applicants, the European Commission wrote to Eastern Caribbean programmes proposing a June 2028 phase-out (not a suspension), ECCIRA stay details were still unpublished as of September 2026, and Malta's restructured fees now apply. Each update below is dated and sourced.

From 1 August 2026, the Public Benefit Option follows the contribution rules, with no extra fee for up to four family members. Additional charges apply from the fifth applicant.

EU letter proposes Caribbean programme phase-out by 2028

In June 2026 the European Commission asked the five Eastern Caribbean citizenship programmes to phase out by 1 June 2028. That letter is not a visa-free suspension. The governments have pointed to reforms, including the planned regional regulator ECCIRA. A regional stay expectation (reported as about 30 days in five years) has been announced; details were not yet published as of September 2026.
